can the edge of a dot be used anti-aliasing technique?

viz.startLayer(viz.POINTS)
viz.vertex(0,0,2)
viz.vertex(0.1,0,2)
viz.endLayer()

How to use anti-aliasing technique to set the luminance of the dot in proportion the the area covered by the dot? Thank you.
