Viewing in stereo mode without the cameras does not work? It's not clear to me what is wrong with the images you see, can you explain more?
Are you testing with something like the following? Code:
import viz
viz.go(viz.STEREO_HORZ | viz.FULLSCREEN)
gallery = viz.addChild('gallery.ive')
