Finding a wand's position coordinates in-world

I am trying to find my wand's position coordinates in the virtual world (like the way MainView.getPosition does). I can find the wand's real life position coordinates, but if I use the joystick to move the avatar around the world, the wand's coordinates do not update to the in-world locations.
