New user question: Any suggestions on how to show an avatar breathing?

Creating a morph target that slightly expands the chest, then animating it going in/out would probably look the most realistic. You would need to use 3dsmax and have the original character files of the avatar in order to do this. If you just have the avatars that came with Vizard, then I don't think there is any easy way to do this.

The two simpliest ways are to animate the upper spine bone back and forth a little, or if if you have the max files for the avatars you are working with, you can build a morph target with an expanded chest and animate that within vizard.

Thanks much folks.

Is there a way to export an existing avatar into a format known to 3DS Max? Alternatively are there sample characters available within 3DS Max that can be imported into Vizard?

the two avatars that come with Vizard are from a larger set of avatars called Vizard Complete Characters. You can look at the specs here:
http://www.worldviz.com/products/characters/index.html
it comes with all the 3Dmax ressources, and costs $3599 for the civilians and 2899 for the soldiers.
