Hello,

Out here at Rowan University we are about to purchase a CAVE system and we have been researching the computers that will power the 4 wall system.

We were pitched the idea of using NVIDIA Quadro Plexs to power the walls. 2 Quadro Plexs would power all 4 screens while a server would control the Quadro Plexs and a Workstation would communicate to the server.

What we were wondering is whether the Quadro Plex system would work with the built in Vizard CAVE functionality to render to the different screens.

The current implementation of Vizard utilizes a CAVE appraoch by communicating between 5 computers and having 4 computers each render a screen.

Any ideas if something exists/will work for a Quadro Plex setup?

Thank You,

I've never used a Quadro Plex, so I don't know too much about it. If it works with standard OpenGL applications then it should be compatible with Vizard.

From my understanding, the Quadro Plex can be configured exactly the same as having two cards in one system. I understand it can be configured to be horizontal span, or it can be configured to be individual desktops. Therefore, when configured in horizontal span (i.e., 4 monitors wide), Vizard should have no problem with this configuration for distributing a cluster within one computer.
