Firstly, I know you can expect a performance hit when you go from single to stereoscopic (head mounted display) mode - but what we are seeing well beyond what would be expected.

We are running an Dell Workstation 650 (Xeon 2.something + Nvidia Quardo4 960GL - I think).

I know that you can turn over screen-spanning duties to the graphics hardware instead of windows doing it, however, I cannot make this work at all.

So I think it is the fact that windows is doing screen spanning that is killing performance, but I don't know how to fix it.

I am running XP home and I have tried the original nvidia driver, the latest nvidia drivers and the ones recommended in the vizard documentation and I can't make any of them work. Any ideas???

Cheers,

Matt

Yep, I tried all those things, I just can't get it to work. I will try again with the latest drivers since there must have been an update since last time I tried.

I seem to recall my drivers did not give me the horizontal span option in the nview display options.

I am away from that computer tonight, but I will be back tommorow morning and I will post more details then.

Cheers,

Matt

hi matt,

I have seen the problem with horizontal span not being available with fx 5200 cards. the last nVidia driver that supported the 'horizontal span' option for this specific case is 51.16 and is available at

http://www.worldviz.com/download/files/52.16_win2kxp_english_whql.exe

hope that helps.
