game devices

I would like to access multiple USB game devices (a joystick and a steering wheel). Is there a simple way to do this? To access a single device I just use sid.get()

Thanks

Hi,

Currently you can only access one device with the sid library.

Would this be accomplished by writing a plug-in? Is it possible to access multiple devices at the same time via DirectX? Or would it be possible to modify the sid library?

Thanks, I'm interested in using two joysticks at the same time...

We can get you access to the sid module. It's a DLL compiled as a Python extension module and actually operates entirely independently of Vizard. You'd be largely on your own, though, in terms of support for modifying this project.

OK -great. Let me know how to get the project and we'll give it a shot. IT may be useful to others, as well...

Thanks

Hi,

As long as windows detects the pedals as a standard gamepad then you can use them. Here is some sample code:
Code:
import sid

#First joystick is automatically created when sid is imported
#Add second joystick
pedals = sid.add()

#Get joystick data (see command reference for sid library)
pedals.get()

Many of the demo and projects we have worked on at WorldViz have gameish elements. Would you like some asstance on where to start or are you looking for some people to work on a project with you?

BTW, what kind of game are you interested in making with Vizard?
