3 cameras for VizPPT

Hello,
I have the VizPPT tracking system that works great in the 30' x 30' space. However I have access to a larget space than this (30' x 60'). I was wondering if it would be possible to add a third camera to the PPT system to enlarge the space that I am tracking? It seems that this should be theoretically possible, but can it be done?

Yes, you're right, both larger tracking volumes and more cameras are possible. The next release of the PPT will have several new features, including such things as tracking in ambient light, tracking over larger distances, and possibly tracking with up to four cameras. I can't say yet when each of these features will be released but you can expect a major overhaul of the PPT software sometime early April.

We'll keep this discussion group informed as these developments approach release.

Thanks Tobin,

That is great news. I am thinking about upgrading my PPT system, but I am wondering if it is possible to track more than one object with the new PPT system. If possible I would like to track the position and orientation of a second object. Will this be possible with the new version?

Yes, you can track up to 3 targets. Target identity is not robustly provided to you--only the coordinates are provided robustly. In your own application you might have to disentangle identity.

We are currently evaluating whether future PPT upgrades will provide orientation information. We'll keep you posted in this regard.
