running Vizard on a two-wall CAVE

Hi,

We are trying to run Vizard on our customized two-wall "CAVE" at Virginia Tech - basically, it's two stereo projection screens configured in an L shape. The setup is as follows:

We have a PC with 3 graphics card. One is for the external monitor as the working console, and the other two for driving the two projectors. Each projection screen is a VisBox-SX10 (http://www.visbox.com/visbox-sx-series.html), connected with two DVI inputs for stereo.

In the current display configuration in windows, I am using the external monitor as the primary display and the four DVI outputs (two for each VisBox) as extension screens.

We have Vizard installed on the machine, and we were wondering if anyone can give us some help/hint/suggestion on how to run the Vizard program on our CAVE? Specifically, how to configure the display, how to write the script (because it's L shape, the 90 degree has to be addressed in the rendering). Or could you please point us to some relevant resources?

Thank you very much.

Hi there,

At this moment in time, Vizard R3 does not support multiple GPUs, so a single Vizard instance can access only one video card at a time. If the video cards are in an SLI configuration, they will appear as a single logical GPU, and will work with Vizard. If you have a QuadroPlex, you can use what is called SLI Mosaic mode to create a single logical GPU as well. But it doesn't sound like you are running this configuration. However, if you are running a configuration like this then I can prepare a template for you.

At this time, the preferred solution is to have a machine for each video card, and then run a cluster to sync them all together. You cannot run a cluster of multiple Vizard applications running on a single machine. Multi-GPU is something we are planning for in Vizard R4, which is under development.

regards,
Wayne
