Vizard and 3ds Max Design 2009

Hello,

I have just watched a webcast that gave me a quick look on 3ds Max Design 2009. Apparently, the software has been divided into two other ones named 3ds Max Design 2009 and 3ds Max 2009. The first, is recommended for architectural vizualization basically whereas the second is suitable for the entertainment industry (i.e. film and video game animation). My concern now is that if WorldViz wil provide separate plugins to export our files as osg ones or will choose either 3ds Max Design 2009 or 3ds Max 2009 and settle with it.

Thank you,

Vinicius

We haven't used 3dsmax 2009 yet, but from what I have read 3dsmax Design is a subset of 3dsmax. Autodesk also mentions that 3dsmax Design does not support plugins. If this is true, then you would need 3dsmax for exporting to the .osg format.

Yes, it appears 3DS Max Design adds tools for architectural quality lighting but subtracts the SDK for 3rd party developers. Unless this is a misunderstanding on our part, WorldViz will only be releasing a osg/ive export plug-in for 3DS Max 2009.
