Floating license server problems
Every week or two, our floating license server stops working.
We have Vizard License Server running as a Service in FireDaemon. The machine will be on and connected, but the License Server will not respond to Vizard, even from the local machine. If we (re)start the Vizard License Server in FireDaemon, it starts working again. Although usually we just reboot the machine. (which also makes it work again) This can cause some severe difficulties if someone is trying to work from home. I cannot remember whether the Vizard License Server is still running in FireDaemon after it has stopped responding. I will check next time. Having the server constantly going down is a problem, but it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the way Vizard handles it. It just silently fails without giving you any kind of error message. When Vizard starts up, it doesn't check to see if it can reach the License Server. It doesn't check until you try to run a script. If it can't reach the server at that point, it just doesn't run the script. It doesn't say anything about why. |

Sorry you're having trouble with the floating license server. Do you know if the server halts if run without firedaemaon? We'll try to replicate your problem and see if there is a fix. Regarding the lack of error messages, we'll see if we can improve that situation for the upcoming Vizard R3 release by adding an alert.
