Giving control to Artist (Artist Editor in Vizard)

We are developing with vizard from last eight months and we have achieved very good results in graphical esthetics with the help of very experienced Graphic Artists. Our Graphic Artists work mainly on 3DS max & Maya. Since as a Developer I have to write all the scripts to give desired effects to the object and my Artist sits beside me and instruct what to be done. This slows the development process.
Open Scene Graphs are very good to store the static information. But to make the environment interactive we have to go for dynamic shading, experimenting and scripting with Artist to achieve the desired result, which becomes very tedious and time consuming for developer.
I want to free my Artist and give him/her total control of Graphic so the experimentation becomes easy.
Can any one help me how to achieve this and make developer free from scripting and make Artist to Edit models and apply desired shading effects?
