Shape Puzzle Simulation

I'm doing some research into fine object manipulation in virtual space, I'll be using an Intersense wand and glove for input.

I need to replicate the experience of one of these toys:

Except the holes will be in a wall in front of the user, rather than in a ball.
Is the Physics engine within Vizard capable of accurately simulating this?

As in, if I have the shape in hand can Vizard accurately prevent the shape from entering the hole if it is the wrong hole, or improperly oriented?

Thanks for your input,
