cutting down a tree

Hello,

I'm trying to create a scene where an avatar cuts down a tree. What is the easiest way to simulate the tree falling down to leave a stump? I'm currently trying to create a new "stump" 3D model, but is there something in Vizard that would make it easier?

Any other suggestions to make the scene more authentic would be great, as well.

Thanks!

In this case I'd use:
-Unbroken initial model. In place until broken/animated model is switched in.
-Broken model with premade piecess that has been animated with 3ds max, possibly using reactor. Swapped in an animation played when it's time for the tree to break. Left on end frame or swapped out for "fallen" model after it falls.
