Mobile VR Headset
We are using Google Cardboard concept which uses Mobile and VR Conversion Kit which acts as Head Mounted Display and displays PC rendered screen.
To do so, we are using open source free software which functions as follows: 1. Open Track: It takes input from Mobile Gyro and sends it to PC. Which emulates the mouse pointer which results in change in the orientation in Vizard. 2. Moonlite from nVidia: It streams (mirrors) the monitor output with mobile. There are various issues and problems we are facing in runtime of these applications. We are requesting you to guide us to resolve this issue. If you have ready plugin which has capacity to convert android based mobile into VR HMD then let us know. Thanking you! |

Vizard must be run off a Windows OS. We have not tried out Moonlite or have support for this.

Sir, Vizard is running on windows. Android Mobile is only for display purpose. Mobile will act as HMD.

This sounds very interesting! Could you be more specific about the problems you're having? I can imagine that the video streaming will work, but if Vizard doesn't support the correct lens distortion (and it likely won't), that will be a definite bottleneck. I wish I could try it out myself right now, but I don't have a cardboard device atm.

You can try another software set for this task: TrinusVR (http://trinusvr.com/). It is alternative to Moonlite and it can work with any video card, not only Nvidia last generations. But not so fast as Moonlite. It works over WiFi or through USB cable. And it gives back to PC tracking data, like OpenTrack.
