Flock of Birds
I've got a problem with the flock of birds (ascension) 6dof tracker. When it's connected to my laptop by a com-to-USB converter the drivers assign a 10+ com port number. With this high com-port number Vizard failes to connect to the FOB while winbird (test program) connects just fine. Test with a different laptop that assigned lower com-port numbers succeeded.
Is it correct that the problem is that the high com-port number are not allowed in the Vizard fob drivers? and how can i solve this all lower com-port numbers are currently reserved or in use. |

The Vizard ascension plugin itself does not impose any limit on the port number. It simply passes the value you specify to the flock of birds API. Are you able to manually change the assigned port number of the com-to-USB converter?

Yes in Windows I could assign other com-port numbers to the connector but 3 till 12 are "in use" according to windows and could not be assigned, com 1 and 2 didn't work correctly in winbird either.
I've fixed the problem now by resetting all previous com-port assignments: http://www.bisque.com/sc/forums/p/446/430.aspx freeing up the lower number com ports. assigning such a freed up number to the connector fixed the problem and vizard connects to the fob again. |
