Multi/Sub-Object materials in MAX
I have problems exporting from MAX9 Multi/Sub-Object materials using .IVE format. Some materials simply do not export correctly and leave mesh color as a material. All submaterials are standard, have a name and only one texture in diffuse slot. Any suggestions?

Hi Tolek,
The problem you are having sounds like one I saw last July where somehow the multi/sub-object material got corrupt, and for some reason typing names for each material ID fixed the problem. That post can be found here, complete with pictures. If that doesn't work, I'd like you to follow the directions in this post so we can determine if it is a problem with Vizard reading the files or a problem with Max exporting the files. |

Hi Veleno,
Thanks for suggestions. Your cube works well. No problems. But I still have problems with my file. All materials are standard with single texture in diffuse channel and have names. The test.zip contains .ive file and planetest.zip contains MAX9 version and all textures. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Tolek |

Hi Tolek,
You seem to have misunderstood my previous post. The file you attached has material names, but not names for the material IDs. When exporting your file in its original form I had the same problem you had, but giving each material ID a name fixed the problem. It doesn't matter what you type in the box, and you don't have to have keep the text there afterwards. As long as some kind of text has been there at any point, it should export properly. |
