We've found fraps to be very reliable but there's a commercial tool called Snagit that you might try instead. You can buy it at
www.snagit.com for $40. You can try it unrestricted for 30 days. Major advantages are it does compression so you don't need something like VirtualDub to compress after the fact. It also records sounds.
