To toggle the flash effect add a boolean variable...

To toggle the flash effect add a boolean variable that can be toggled (e.g with keypress). Then only run the flash effect code if the boolean value is true.

I'm not sure how adding a tracker to the beam will help. If you place the physical beam at the same location in tracking coordinates as the position of the virtual beam in virtual world coordinates...

Yes, it is possible to disable lighting on an individual object. Try using the node3D.disable (http://docs.worldviz.com/vizard/#commands/node3d/disable.htm) command with the value viz.LIGHTING.

Oculus is only supported from Vizard 5. Initially when the Oculus DK2 was released, Vizard 4 may have been compatible with an old version of the Oculus SDK but that is no longer supported.
