Other 3D software to generate animated characters

Thank you!

My problem is that both 3ds Max and Maya are very expensive and difficult to learn. Can you recommend some other low end software (both cheaper and easy) for us to create our own...

I am new to WorldViz.

How do we display Chinese characters

Can some one tell me how to display Chinese characters?
I set the encoding to UTF8, select simsun.ttc font and use addText to display Chinese text. But it does not work.

I am new to Worldviz. Can some one tell me what are the best software to generate animated characters to be used with Worldviz. I find 3dsmax too expensive. Thanks:confused:
