direct inverse kinematics

Hi,

I'd like to use the new inverse kinematics module to make the hand move to particular locations, without having any motion tracker input. I think this should be possible with a virtual tracker and some of the sample code posted here before, but I'm afraid I don't know how.

To describe the task in more detail - the avatar will be standing still with head / shoulder position fixed. I have a list of coordinates that the hand should point to at each time point in a movement. I need the vizard IK module to give me sensible arm locations so that the hand points to each of the locations I've specified.

Can anyone give me hints to do this? I think I just need to get my list of coordinates into the vizconnect as if they were tracker data, but I can't see how to do that.

thanks for your help,

Antonia

I'll post an example early next week.

In vizconnect, create a group tracker for each avatar part that you have coordinate data for and map the group trackers in the avatar animator section. In the script that imports the vizconnect configuration, get a handle to and manually set the group trackers' positions/orientations.

thanks for your help, that is great.
