missing parts of head texture

2 Attachment(s)
We’re working with another group who has created a set of 10 avatars with 3dMeNow heads put through Peoplemaker. The avatar heads look fine on the computers at their location, but when sent to our location there are spots on the top of 4 of their heads where the proper texture is missing. Sometimes the area with the missing hair texture is solid black, other times it’s multi-colored as in the attached example image. (attaching images of the same avatar one from the other group's end which appears normal, one from our end with missing texture).
This has happened using both in Vizard R2.53f and R3 on our end.
Any ideas as to what might be going on? Thanks.

Is there a hole in the head or does the top of the head have a funky texture?

It seems to be just a funky texture rather than a hole. On the attached photo you'll see how it looks like the right half of the weird patch is grabbing part of the texture from the sweater of the agent directly on his right, and the left side is a texture from another agent's sweater on his left.

Hey, SJP.

All that's going on here is that the UVW coordinates are off for the polygons on the top of the head.

Are the head models normal in the versions that have not been brought through peoplemaker (in 3ds Max, etc.)?

If the problem exists in the source files, and you are using Max, all that should need to be done is to add a UVW unwrap modifier, select the offending polygons, then bring them up in the UVW editor and move them into position. You should be able to make the texture display as the editor's background by clicking the drop down menu in the upper right of its window, which will make this process much easier.

If it only happens after the model has been brought through peoplemaker, then we have a bug on our hands.

the mystery continues

Hey Peeps-

I don't think the problem is UVW coordinates because the textures that appear on top of the head are not from that model, but from another model (the one standing next to the avatar).

The other bizarre thing is that this problem is only apparent on SJP's computer and not our computers (we made the original models) even when we're running the exact same script with the exact same models. I believe SJP is running the same version of Vizard so that doesn't seem to be the problem. . . .
