Arrington - Ethernet ViewPoint Client

Dear users,

I have successfully run Vizard with Arrington software on the same PC, which has worked wonderfully :D

However, I need to use a different set up for my fMRI experiment: PC with with frame grabber PCI and Viewpoint Software streaming data via Ethernet crossover cable to a Laptop with Arrington's Ethernet Viewpoint Client and Vizard on it.

All the Arrington software is streaming nicely but my Vizard .py does not seem to pick up the x,y values when run from inside the Ethernet Viewpoint Client folder on the Laptop with the necessary vpx.dll in it (same as the vpx.dll in the parent viewpoint folder).

Can someone who may have had experience with this tell me if this is possible? Or whether a plugin for this may become available.

Thank you.

The Arrington plug-in should work with both local and streamed data. Have you been able to capture the streamed data using Arringtons own test software?

Hi,

Yes, I can see the data from the eye on the remote laptop when view point client is connected using either:
VPX_MFC_Demo
VPX_win32_Demo
VPX_simple_c

all in the extraApps folder of viewpoint.

I'm just using the vpx.getSmoothedGazePoint() command in my .py to try to pick up the streamed data, should I be using anything else whilst on a remote computer? and do I have to have a specific extraApps interface open for vizard to pick up the data?

Thank you very much for getting back to me on this.

Regards, J

I've never used the remote interface for the Arrington EyeTracker, so I don't really know how it works. My understanding is that whether the data is local or remote is transparent to the application and it just uses the same API to access the data. You might want to contact Arrington for more information.
