Funny morphs with 3DMeNow/PeopleMaker

I'm using the following process to make .vzf files from 3DMeNow:

- Save morphed faces from 3DMeNow as a set of .wrl files
(Subdivision Iterations = 1)
- Use 3ds max 5 to convert the files from VRML 1.0 to 2.0
(Bitmap URL turned off)
- Open PeopleMaker on the "baseline" .wrl file
- Flip the polygon order
- Use File->Open->Create Morph and Tools->Generate Morph
Target to convert the .wrl files into morph targets.
- Autoscale the head, fix the neck vertices, and save the .vzf.

The resulting .vzf works, but it has some funny artifacts, even when I restrict the morph percentage to a number from 0 to 1.0. For example, apply a smile might cause a polygon to grow out of the cheek. The original 3DMeNow morph didn't have that funny polygon, so something must have gone wrong in the translation.

Any I doing something wrong? Any ideas?

It seems like the vertex ordering was somehow changed between your models. If you send the base and morphed wrl file to lashkari@worldviz.com I can take a look at it.

I am also having the same problem.
I have tried exporting at different levels of mesh quality, and various extremes of the morph target (e.g. small amount of mouth open vs. large amount of mouth open) and that does not seem to make a difference.
let me know if you figure anything out.
thanks!

Hi,

I never got a response from the original poster, so I'm not sure what is going on. If you send me the base and morphed wrl file I will take a look at it for you. You can send it to my email address: lashkari@worldviz.com
