re: Vuzix vr920 stereo?
 

Hello to all and a belated happy new year,

We are trying to impliment vuzix's vr920 head set (and later the CamAR unit), and by using the 'icuiti.dls' plugin allows us to addess the units orientation tracking, however I/we are not able to display anything in stereo :confused:, have tried the order in which the monitor and hmd are cloned through nVidia control panel as well as trying viz.FULLSCREEN - viz.STEREO and viz.HMD. Trying viz.QUAD_BUFFER gives:

VisualChooser: the request visual is not avaible, trying to relax attributes X3 - which is confusing as the video card in the pc - a Quadro fx 3450 - appears to support quad buffered stereo!?! :confused:

Am I missing something really obvious?

Do you have the most recent driver for your card and have you enabled the proper settings in nVidia's control panel for your card to run quad buffered stereo?

I'm not at the office at the moment so I'll re-check when I am, there may be an issue there as I thought I'd tried earlier only to have to roll back because there was no 3D settings in the control panel afterwards. When I inherited the pc viz.FULLSCREEN implemented stereo 'flickering' on a monitor but QUAD_BUFFER still produced the VisualChooser error!?!:confused::confused:
Of course this is presuming that QUAD_BUFFERing is what I need to be using for the Vuzix?

For some of nVidia's older Geforce cards that worked with stereo drivers viz.FULLSCREEN would enable stereo. Using viz.QUAD_BUFFER is the way to enable stereo with a Quadro card. Is it possible you previously had one of those Geforce cards in there at some point and activated stereo with fullscreen? Try installing the most recent drivers for your Quadro and let us know what 3D settings are available.

I'm not certain whether the Vuzix works with quad buffered stereo. I'll look into it though.

Just confirming that the Vuzix VR920 does work with quad buffered stereo so you can use viz.QUAD_BUFFER in Vizard.
