Realistic Glass Material
I'm working on a VR training simulator for medical use. We've got a lot of glass vials and IV bags (and a few windows) in the environment. So need to get as realistic of a glass material as we can manage.
An older version of the project an be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x440QBi_xfQ We're using LoD, baked lighting, normal maps and transparency maps. What's the best glass material we can manage in Vizard beyond just turning on the transparency? |

If you are using 3ds Max and the OSG exporter you can replicate a glass material using a standard material with a diffuse texture with alpha channel. Use a circular alpha channel and Spherical Environment mapping coordinates in the material. This will give you a "fall off" opacity effect. You can add an environment map in the reflection slot . Attached is an example of the glass material.
