Hello,

We are looking to trade out our current VR computer for a new one and had a few questions with regard to Vizard.

We were wondering about using the crossfire or SLI technology now available from ATI and NVIDIA for our next system. We typically deal with very high polygon scenes with over millions of polygons. With the Vizard software, would we gain any benefits from the SLI/cross fire technology?

Or should we simply invest in a higher end Quadro FX 5600 card. Do you have any suggestions, or maybe benchmarks to indicate reliable compatibility and any preference?

Thanks,

George

I don't have any benchmarks, but the SLI technology mostly helps if you are fill rate limited. If this is not the case for you, then it's probably not worth it. I generally recommend the high end GeForce cards and nVidia just released the GeForce 9 series. Unfortunately, nVidia doesn't provide stereo drivers with their latest cards, so if you need frame sequential stereo then you will need a Quadro card. Either way, I recommend nVidia cards over ATI.
